PAPER TO CAD
Your experience does not start from scratch. It changes tools.
You have been making paper patterns for years. You understand proportion, fit, pattern alterations and the corrections needed to produce a well-constructed garment.
PAPER TO CAD is designed for experienced patternmakers who want to bring these skills into a digital environment without abandoning their own working method.
It is not a patternmaking course for beginners. It is a programme for learning to work directly in CAD, use your own pattern blocks, make pattern alterations quickly and integrate 3D simulation into the development process.
The same expertise. A more efficient process.
The advantage of CAD is not simply drawing a pattern on screen. It is being able to store, duplicate, alter and check your work without starting again from steps you have already completed.
Drastically reduce repetitive work

When a client asks for a change, working on paper may mean retracing the pattern, recutting the pieces and rebuilding part of the work.
In CAD you can duplicate the existing pattern, adjust the measurements, alter a sleeve or a length, and keep the original version at the same time.
You don't repeat work already done. You start from what you have built.
Your pattern blocks become a digital asset
The pattern blocks you have refined over the years are an important part of your professional experience.
You can transfer them into your digital working environment, organise them and use them as the starting point for new styles and pattern alterations.
Your knowledge remains yours. It becomes more accessible and reusable.
Keep an archive of patterns and variations

Every pattern can have its own history: the original block, the alterations, the variations requested by the client and later revisions.
An organised digital pattern archive lets you retrieve files, restart from earlier versions and keep track of changes without searching through card patterns and paper copies.
Every project can become a resource for the next one.
Spot some issues earlier through the avatar

3D simulation adds an observation stage before physical production.
Through virtual fitting on the avatar you can assess proportions, volumes, lengths and the simulated behaviour of the garment, identifying certain issues and correcting the pattern before going further.
It does not replace a real fitting. It lets you reach it with more information.
Reduce the number of physical samples

Every physical sample requires materials, sewing time, fittings and subsequent corrections.
With CAD integrated with 3D simulation you can compare different solutions, check certain aspects of fit and refine the pattern before making the sample.
This can reduce unnecessary fittings and focus physical work on the checks that really matter.
Fewer avoidable steps. More control over garment development.
You don't need to learn patternmaking all over again.
You need to learn to use new tools with the expertise you already have.
PAPER TO CAD is designed for those who know pattern construction in depth and want to make their working process faster, more organised and more flexible.
Your experience is the starting point. Not the limit.
